    •    Date: Sunday August 23, 2026
    •    Price: $160 Members
    •    Location: The Union League Whitebrier in Avalon NJ
    •    Time: 6:00 PM
    •    Dress:  Summer Chic with Chaine Decorations

This special event offers a rare opportunity to enjoy one of the Jersey Shore’s most exclusive destinations. As a members-only Union League property, the Whitebrier is not ordinarily open to the public, making this an exceptional evening for Chaîne members and their guests.

We extend our sincere thanks to Larry Weitzner, whose Union League membership has made this unique experience possible.

The evening will feature a fresh, coastal-inspired five-course menu thoughtfully paired with exceptional wines from Germany, Burgundy, and California. Set against the relaxed elegance of Avalon, guests will enjoy an evening of outstanding cuisine, remarkable wines, exceptional hospitality, and the camaraderie that makes Chaîne events so memorable.

PLEASE PUT THE NAMES OF YOURSELF AND GUESTS IN THE COMMENTS BELOW.

We look forward to welcoming you for a wonderful evening at the shore.

Vive La Chaine!

Event Schedule

First Course

Sushi & Fresh Oysters
Cucumber Mignonette

2022 Melsheimer Reiler Mullay-Hofberg Riesling Sekt Brut
Mosel, Germany

Produced from Riesling grown on the steep slate slopes of the Mullay-Hofberg vineyard, this sparkling wine is made by traditional bottle fermentation and aged on its lees. Fine bubbles, fresh citrus and classic Mosel minerality provide a bright, refreshing beginning and a natural complement to oysters, sushi and cucumber mignonette.

Second Course

Watermelon Gazpacho

2020 Weingut Loersch Trittenheimer Apotheke “Fels-Terrassen” Riesling Feinherb
Mosel, Germany • Double Magnum

This off-dry Riesling comes from old vines growing on the steep slate terraces of the Trittenheimer Apotheke vineyard. With 21 grams per liter of residual sugar, it offers a harmonious balance of gentle sweetness and refreshing acidity. Notes of quince, pear, melon, lemon, herbs and earthy spice complement the watermelon while balancing the gazpacho’s bright acidity and savory elements.

92 Points — Jean Fisch & David Rayer, Mosel Fine Wines

Third Course

Soft-Shell Crab Bao
Cucumber & Gochujang

2020 Markus Molitor Ürziger Würzgarten Riesling Spätlese, Golden Capsule
Mosel, Germany

Ürziger Würzgarten—“the Spice Garden of Ürzig”—is one of the Mosel’s most distinctive vineyards. Molitor’s Golden Capsule designates a fruit-sweet style, combining ripe peach, pear and preserved citrus with herbal and spicy nuances. Its natural sweetness softens the heat of the gochujang while vibrant acidity refreshes the palate after the fried soft-shell crab and bao.

95 Points — Falstaff

Fourth Course

Surf & Turf
Slow-Roasted Short Rib
Jumbo Crab Imperial
Potato Cake & Roasted Asparagus

Wine Pairing One
2010 Domaine Pierre Guillemot Savigny-lès-Beaune “Dessus les Gollardes” Blanc
Burgundy, France

A beautifully mature white Burgundy from the Guillemot family’s vineyards in Savigny-lès-Beaune. Orchard fruit, citrus and minerality have evolved into savory, nutty and gently honeyed complexity. Its refined texture and freshness pair beautifully with the crab imperial, potato cake and roasted asparagus.

One Star — Guide Hachette des Vins (“A Very Successful Wine”)

Wine Pairing Two
2019 Aperture Soil Specific Bordeaux Blend
Alexander Valley, California

Crafted by acclaimed winemaker Jesse Katz from carefully selected volcanic-soil vineyards in Alexander Valley, this Bordeaux blend is composed of 40% Malbec, 34% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. Layers of Morello cherry, violet, dried herbs and earth are framed by refined, chocolate-textured tannins and vibrant acidity. Its depth beautifully complements the slow-roasted short rib while its elegant structure balances the richness of the complete Surf & Turf course.

95 Points — Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate

Fifth Course

Dessert Trio
Three House-Made Miniature Desserts
Vanilla Ice Cream
Freshly baked house brownies will also be available for guests to enjoy.
